As we celebrate Pride Month and bring our fiscal year to a close, we are reflecting on Queer Regeneration through the lens of BELONGING.
Belonging is the hunger at our core; it is the desire to see and be seen, to love and be loved in return. The pandemic isolated us, but through our hybrid programming, we create fiercely affirmative spaces where QTPOC youth and artists came together as celebrated storytellers, keepers of culture, and agitators for growth. Please join us as we continue to expand our local, national and global community by showing your TTO Pride today!
GIVE: Our work is made better with your support!
SHARE: Amplify our messages this month by sharing graphics, videos, and other posts on social media.
GROW: Grow our community by building your own fundraising page for TTO and inviting your friends and loved ones to support our work and join the movement.
Your Impact
Your support this year has allowed us to build welcoming spaces for QTPOC artists and youth in their time of need. Guided by our three focus areas, here are some examples:
YOUTH AND FAMILIES: We embraced hybrid-model programming with our True Colors Troupe– giving QTPOC youth a place to examine the world around them, explore emotion, and process and overcome trauma during the ongoing pandemic. We also successfully piloted our first year of Queer Family Series, providing virtual queer family programs such as Drag Story Hour, Tam’s Two Dads and more to families across the country.
ARTISTS: We fostered new work with our Queer (Re)Public programming, allowing QTPOC artists to bring unabashedly queer stories to the stage. Adil Mansoor is performing their original play Amm(i)gone from June 10th-12th– exploring the intersections of Islamophobia, ageism, sexism, racism, immigration, and queerness. Sophie Kim is preparing to enter the development phase of her original play SWAN, telling the story of a young person navigating their gender identity through the lens of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. Vashanti Cowan is attending conventions and workshops to create their original piece about the body and its relationship to trauma and emotion.
COMMUNITY: With our community partners Haley House & Trans Boxing, we presented the Radical Futures Series focusing on grief healing, self defense and sustaining community through crisis.
